Tales from the Severn Vale: Coombe Hill nature reserve

Posted: Friday 21st November 2014 by Community

Coombe Hill nature reserve is truly a great place to visit a the moment. Jackie Birch, our Severn Vale Reserves Manager, gives us a run down of all the birds which are currently flocking to our nature reserve!

I was there on Wednesday and it is absolutely fabulous at the moment, it's a great time for bird watching.

Right now the annual winter flooding is at just the right level for the birds. With all the winter migrants arriving, if you take a trip down there now you'll see an amazing concentration of species, and the noise is magical.

The geese are honking, the wigeon and teal are whistling and there are large flocks of lapwing flying around.

Just look at these numbers - I thoroughly recommend a trip here over the next few weeks!
