Join professional photographer David Broadbent for an of wetland wildlife and sunset photography at Coombe Hill.

Rich with wildlife, Coombe Hill is the perfect location to learn how to capture the beauty of wildlife on camera.

Coombe Hill Canal and Meadows is an SSSI and a place of vistas and endless skies, of floods and farming, an ancient landscape fringing the Severn. Equally appealing on a frost-bitten winter morning or a glorious summer day, Coombe Hill is an ideal place to revel in the peaceful serenity of the countryside; bring binoculars to bird watch, or simple enjoy the wildlife and scenery on offer.

It is a very special site for wetland birds, particularly waders and migrating waterfowl but also watch out for birds of prey, including hen harrier, peregrine falcon and goshawk.

Snipe, redshank, oystercatcher, lapwing and curlew are just a few of the many species sighted here, as well as spectacular numbers of over wintering wildfowl during times of high water.

With over 30 years experience in the field, David Broadbent will show composition techniques and you'll get hands-on experience of the best equipment to use to get the shots you want. Part of a small group, there'll be plenty of opportunity for one-to-one time with our expert. Come away with the confidence to photograph all kinds of wildlife and a selection of images to treasure.

The day will be spent in and around the two hides at Coombe Hill. There is a car park at the entrance to the site, where David will meet participants prior to the course. Warm drinks will be included. Please note, the hides will be particularly cold at this time of year so please come suitably dressed, with lots of layers!

Participants will need to bring their own camera compact or DSLR and David will demonstrate and recommend various professional equipment that may be of additional use.

David Broadbent is a professional editorial photographer with over 30 years experience in the field. Based in the Forest of Dean, David creates dynamic, creative, and innovative work for clients throughout the UK, and is a founding contributor to RSPB Images picture library and a member of the Canon Professional Network.
