“Anyone who cares about wildlife has a marvellous opportunity to do something quite unique, by remembering their local Wildlife Trust in their will. This generous act is one of the most important things you can do to make sure the species and habitats we love will be there for future generations to enjoy.”

Making A Will For Wildlife
By leaving a legacy, you can help protect Gloucestershire’s precious wildlife. After providing for your loved ones, remembering us with a gift in your Will can help us fight for better protection of the county’s natural environment. As we are a registered charity, leaving a legacy is also tax free and will reduce the inheritance tax burden on your estate.
Jackie Hawkins talks about her commitment to a better future for Gloucestershire:“For me, a bequest to a loved one doesn’t have to mean a person; it can include any of the things you have loved in your life. In my case it’s Gloucestershire’s wildlife and countryside that has given me so much pleasure. So in addition to remembering my family and friends in my will, I have made a gift to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust”
How we will use your legacy
We believe that Gloucestershire’s wildlife is a gift that we should treasure for future generations. For this reason, we are actively involved in a wide range of conservation activities, including:
- Managing over 60 wildlife nature reserves for the benefit of present and future generations
- Protecting Gloucestershire’s most endangered habitats and species
- Campaigning for greater protection of Gloucestershire’s wildlife
- Working closely with farmers and landowners to promote sustainability
- Inspiring children and adults to get involved in the natural world
You can make a real difference
Please consider leaving a legacy to ensure that our natural heritage is protected and appreciated. You do not need to be a member of the Trust to leave a gift in your Will. Every gift, no matter how large or small, will make a difference to Gloucestershire’s wildlife.
If you have left Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust a gift in your Will, we would be very grateful if you could let us know by completing the form below. Knowing your plans helps us to plan confidently for the future and gives us the opportunity to thank you in person for your generosity.
A legacy gift to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust can be made in several different ways, which your solicitor will explain to you more fully.
Flowers in living memory
Instead of buying cut flowers why not make a donation to us for wild flowers instead. Wild flowers are forever and asking relatives and friends to make a donation to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will help us secure and maintain areas of wildflower meadow, daffodil woodland and heather-filled heathlands as a permanent feature and lasting memorial. A tree for that special someone
Dedicating a tree is the perfect way to mark a special event like a wedding anniversary, a marriage or christening and also to remember a loved one.
Vell Mill Orchard
We have planted a new orchard at Vell Mill nature reserve near Dymock using old local variety apple, pear and plum trees which are in decline.
Initially we have planted 60 trees, each one can be bought by family or friends to either celebrate the life of a loved one or mark an important occasion and will be dedicated only once so it will be a unique and special tribute.
The idea is for family and friends to get involved as much as they want to, from attending specially arranged events on the reserve to eventually picking their own fruit which they can take away with them or even have made into locally produced cider or juice.
A number of the trees have already been dedicated but there is still opportunity to secure one.The cost of each tree is £300, if you are interested please contact us for details.
