Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will be planting a local variety apple tree to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s Lower Woods nature reserve in the new Jubilee Orchard.
The Trust expects that the orchard will encourage wildlife such as bullfinch, green woodpecker and mistletoe and it will be open for visitors to enjoy. Over 67% of traditional orchards in Gloucestershire have disappeared in the last 40 years.
The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is very privileged to have the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester join us at this special event which celebrates the Queen’s Jubilee year

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will be joined at the event by dedicated volunteers, Lower Woods Patrons, and individuals who have played an important role in the preservation of this magnificent ancient woodland. Hosting the event will be Sir Henry Elwes, the Trust’s President, Robert Bernays, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, and The Hon. Hugh Tollemache, the Trust’s Chairman.
