ERDF wild towns

Tetbury

From restoring native bluebell populations in woodlands to giving barn owls new places to call home, the second largest town in the Cotswolds is become wilder.

The ERDF Wild Towns project will enhance the walk to the source of the River Avon through community wildflower planting, woodland management and creation of ponds.

ERDF Tetbury Barn owl manor

Hooting for success

Along with Tetbury Feofees and their friends. Our delivery partners, Ecosulis, have installed a new Barn Owl Manor in Preston Park. This construction has been designed especially for barn owls and we hope that they will take up residence soon.

The grassland in the surrounding area provides great hunting grounds for them with lots of mice and voles for them to feed their young. Barn owls are beautiful, ghostly creatures that are a pleasure to watch. To be able to walk only a short distance from the centre of Tetbury to watch these creatures would be amazing!

We will be sure to bring updates if anyone takes up residence.

With huge support from the local community, a brilliant bluebell planting event was hosted by Tetbury Town Council, Tetbury Feofees and the FWAG SouthWest. The aim of the day was to plant a selection of woodland flower bulbs along the popular walking route from the goods shed. We hope to see this walk come to life in spring with the burst of colour from bluebells and the other flowers planted.
