We're looking to expand our Learning Programme, ensuring the next generation of naturalists.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust inspires people and communities to appreciate and take action for nature in towns and the countryside. It provides a programme of activities for those within formal education (from early years to higher education) and works with pre-school children, families, holiday and uniform clubs, and provides learning opportunities for life-long learners and those with special educational needs.

This role is suitable for those who are experienced or interested in working with children or looking to gain experience in the education sector. Learning Team Volunteers may get the chance to work with school groups, Nature Tots (for under 5s), support our Primary School programme, kids holiday clubs, Secondary School students and adult learners.

Opportunities to gain experience of working with or creating curriculum based material in an ‘outside the classroom’ learning environment; roles can be varied or specific to one area or target audience based on the interest and experience of the volunteer.

One off and regular volunteer roles available

Volunteer role and task description

• Support the set up for educational visits
• Research and create activities for participants
• Replenish educational resources
• Meet and greet groups
• Support small groups of learners in a variety of activities, may include river dipping, artefact discovery, small mammal trapping
• Support the packing away of materials
• Support the administration of the education programme


• Be interested in working alongside people
• Be interested in engaging people with wildlife and heritage and seeing them learn new things and skills
• Be passionate about access to wildlife for all people
• Be interested in working with children and / or adults
