We are expanding our Welcome volunteer team at Greystone. Greystones is one of our gateway sites and has amazing facilities for visitors to learn about wildlife and human history. The reserve has an life size replica Iron Age roundhouse, a brand new interactive visitor hub, cafe, wildlife friendly gardens, education room and robotic milker!
Greystones is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its wildflower meadows and features rare trees, ancient hedgerows, the River Eye, and a lake teaming with wildlife. It also has a rich human history stretching back 6,000 years. Nestled on the outskirts of Bourton-on-the-Water it is truly a gem of the Cotswolds.
We want to show off all of these fantastic facilities and how important Greystones is for wildlife to visitors and locals, however, to do this we need a team of visitor experience volunteers at Greystones to help provide a warm and informative welcome . All necessary training will be provided.
We are looking for cover on Tuesdays-Thursdays and Sundays every week between 10am-4pm. Ideally we are looking for volunteers to help in pairs, so we can open our roundhouse.
A typical day might start with lighting the roundhouse fire, welcoming visitors inside and encouraging them to go up to the visitor hub, visit our cafe, robotic milker, garden and education centre. We aim to have two volunteers each time, one to cover the hub and the other the roundhouse .
Please contact us if you would like to help the Greystones experience come alive for visitors!
