Severn Vale Living Landscape Project

SVLL TeamWetland Habitat

The Trust’s first major Living Landscape project is up and running in the Severn Vale. The project team are working with farmers and local communities to restore the typical lowland wet grassland habitat that is so important for wildlife. Species dependant on this include wintering ducks, geese and swans, breeding waders such as lapwing and curlew, mammals such as otter and water vole and a wide range of plants and insects.

Project Aims

The project area spreads across 11,000 hectares and the long term aim is to restore up to 60% of the area (6,600 hectares) to good quality wildlife habitat. We are also hoping to develop marketing and green tourism opportunities in the Severn Vale and promote a greater understanding of why restoring the Severn Vale is so important to all of us.
