Miss Grace's Lane Meadows: an important step forward

Land gifted by donors in the Forest of Dean links to future Nature Recovery Zone.

Sitting adjacent to The Park and Poor’s Allotment nature reserves in the Tidenham area of the Forest of Dean, Miss Grace’s Lane Meadows is a Local Wildlife Site that has multiple records of nationally threatened species.

The two-hectare parcel of land was offered as a gift to GWT by the current landowners, and long-term GWT donors.

This area of wildflower-rich grassland forms a core part of the Nature Recovery Network (NRN) and is home to plants such as soft-leaved sedge and common wintergreen, as well as a pond and wooded quarry area with dormice.

This is a rich addition to the land managed for wildlife in the Tidenham area and much anticipated by our Herdwick sheep who will soon help tread the seed of next year’s wildflowers into the soil.
Kevin Caster, Land Manager West

Acquisition of this site will expand The Park and Poor’s Allotment nature reserves and, together with other existing nature reserves in the area, marks an important step forward in the Trust’s ambition to create a Nature Recovery Zone in the Lower Wye and Tidenham Chase borders.
