Josie Morris, a pupil at Whitminster Church of England Primary School, was surprised on Friday afternoon when Jan Ryder from Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust presented her with 1st prize at the school assembly, for the Trust's Wear you Wellies design a welly competition.
Josie recieved a bird feeder and bird food which was kindly donated by Cotswold Nature.
The Trust received over 750 entries this year and the standard of entries were very high. The competition was judged by author Jilly Cooper who had a very hard time deciding the winner.
Jilly said “All of the designs were brilliant, I was really impressed with the amount of time and effort the children put into this competition. Josie’s design was fantastic and included a special 50th birthday message as well as lots of wildlife”
The school also received a bird food voucher for £50.00 kindly donated by Vine House Farm.
Wear your Wellies for Wildlife is a fundraising initiative and raised over £2500 in 2011 for Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
