Lancaut is within the Lower Wye Gorge which is one of the finest landscapes in lowland Britain.

Lancaut lies in one of the four most important woodland areas in Britain and is an SSSI, the site is very rich in wildlife with over 350 plant species recorded and a wide range of birds around the wood and south facing cliffs such as peregrine falcon and raven.

Walking information
The gradients are steep in places over rocky ground and slippy clay. There is also a large bolder scree half way through the reserve to negotiate. Red waymarker arrows illustrate a trail through the reserve.
Parking
Lancaut Lane: park on the grassy area on the left. The path into the reserve is 100m beyond, marked by a interpretation panel and footpath way marker.
