Barrow Wake

Barrow Wake – just further along the scarp from Crickley Hill and part of the same SSSI – contains a similar flora to Crickley Hill but is especially notable for its population of Musk Orchids and abundant Devil’s Bit Scabious.

Barrow Wake supports good butterfly populations with abundant Chalkhill Blues in mid-summer as well as the green hairstreak, marsh fritillery and Duke of Burgundy Fritillery. Another fantastic location to enjoy views across the Severn Vale.
