Cotswold Rivers Achievements

We have done a large amount of work, here are some of our achievements

  • Several events at shows, libraries and village halls with 366 people attending illustrated talks
  • 946 schoolchildren were engaged in the programme
  • Over 1,200 hours of volunteer work
  • 425 people have been taken on guided walks
  • 94 people have been given survey training
  •  Over 110km of Cotswold river watercourses have been surveyed for water voles.
  • 127 landowners advised on management of their water courses for water voles and other wildlife.
  • 375m of riparian scrub has been cleared along the River Eye and the wet ditch system at Greystones Farm. This has resulted in creating suitable water vole habitat, which will connect isolated water vole populations

  • 35 mink rafts have been deployed along the River Windrush system.
  • Construction of bat loft at Brassey Nature Reserve
  • 1km of bankside Himalayan Balsam control on the river Churn (with Head of Thames Wildlife Volunteers)
  • 1,175m of livestock fencing on the river Churn to protect the riverbank
  • Wind in the Willows performances attended by 772 people
