About the event
Do you love nature? Have you ever wanted to capture in a painting, the fine colours and detail that you see in plants and flowers? Have you ever been to an art exhibition and thought “I could never do that?” Well, perhaps you have more talent than you ever thought – you just need someone to find your hidden talent.
Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust are running a botanical art class at Greystones Farm, Bourton On The Water, on the 19th of July, taught by Debbie Devauden.
As well as being a prize winning artist, who has exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists in London, Debbie has been running botanical art classes in and around Monmouthshire for many years, helping people from all backgrounds and experience to enjoy painting nature in all its beautiful detail. We're overjoyed that she's coming to Gloucestershire.
As for what to expect from one of Debbie's workshops, you don't need any prior experience or even your own brush. Everything is supplied for you. Someone coming along to a class as a complete beginner first learns to draw accurately before going on to learn the techniques of pencil, pen and ink and watercolour. This is not as daunting as it may sound, classes are deliberately kept small so that tuition is individual and everyone gets the attention that they need.
Experienced artists are equally welcome to Debbie’s classes, perhaps to develop existing skills, or to learn new techniques.
The day will start at 9.30am with a brief walk around Greystones to begin, as chance to gather inspiration for the day. The main session will be from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch.
