Tile Whipping campaign - Terms and Conditions 2026

 

We’re so happy you want to do some de-paving/’tile whipping’ at home. To ensure this campaign runs smoothly, we’ve set out some terms and conditions to make it fair and possible to run. 

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust has partnered with Stroud District Council who are arranging the free collection of the hard surfaces you remove as part of this campaign. The form on the ‘Tile Whipping’ webpage (here) is designed so we can check your de-paving work qualifies for the free materials collection. 
 

Eligibility for free collection of lifted hard surfaces: 

  • The free collection is only applicable for hard surface material that is a result of de-paving.
  • Materials that will be collected include concrete slabs, tarmac, bricks, outdoor tiles, and artificial grass. Any materials you put in the collection bag that aren’t on this list, may result in the refusal of collection of that bag.
  • The maximum area of hard surface material that will be collected from each property is 2m².
  • If your skip bag is over-filled, or contains material not connected to de-paving, collection may  be refused. 
     

Collection and siting of skip bags:

  • The skip bag must be accessible by a vehicle for pick-up by the collection vehicle, as a metal skip would be. For example, on your drive or front garden.
  • The skip bag must be kept on your private property and not on public land. Public land includes the pavement outside your house, the road, public green space, council land.
  • If any conditions specified above are not met your collection may be refused by the collector. 
     

Dates and timelines: 

  • Sign up forms need to be completed and submitted by the 31st July 23:59 BST to go through the eligibility process. This date may be moved to a later date at the discretion of Stroud District Council and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
  • The described skip bags will be dropped at successful applicants' properties at the addresses specified in their application form, any time between the 1st August and 1st September.
  • The collection period will run between the 1st September 2026 to the 16th October 2026. We will do our best to provide successful applicants with a specific date or range of dates for the collection of their skip bag 5 working days before collection. 

 

Data storage 

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will collect and store your data that you submit in the sign-up form in line with our privacy policy: https://www.gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk/privacy-policy  

The data you submit in this form that is relevant to the campaign for the process described above will be shared with Stroud District Council. Stroud District Council may store this data for the duration of the campaign, in line with their privacy policy, and will destroy all data by 31 December 2026 11:59pm BST

Liability

Any application or execution of de-paving or ‘Tile Whipping’ is done strictly at your own risk. In no event shall Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust or Stroud District Council be held liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages, or any other damages whatsoever arising out of or connected with the use or misuse of the information or processes provided herein. Users are responsible for how they choose to use the information provided for this campaign including any information published by either Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust or Stroud District Council regarding ‘Tile Whipping’ or de-paving.
