Welcome to Stroud and Tewkesbury Waterscapes Project – Phase Two!
The Stroud and Tewkesbury Waterscapes project will use nature-based interventions to help limit the impact of flooding on local habitats and improve the resilience of local communities, by reducing flood risk and boosting biodiversity for nature and people to enjoy.
Thanks to continued support from Royal Sun Alliance (RSA) Insurance, an Intact company, we’ve been able to continue this project after a very successful Phase One in Cheltenham and Gloucester. The project is part of RSA Insurance’s commitment to building resilient communities and helping people, businesses and society adapt to a changing climate.

The project will continue to use Nature Based Solutions (NBS) to help reduce flooding in urban and semi-urban areas. From Natural Flood Management (NFM) methods such as leaky dams, to Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) including rain gardens, permeable paving and green roofs. These solutions show ways of addressing flooding by capturing water and slowing the flow.

We’ve been able to continue this project thanks to continued support from RSA Insurance, and a growing network of partners joining the project such as Gloucestershire County Council and the Environment Agency. We will continue to raise funding for this project over the next two years and work with local businesses and communities within the Stroud and Tewkesbury areas.
