Our Primary Schools Programme

Our Primary Schools Programme

(C) Nick Turner

We've got lots of ways that your pupils can get closer to nature, from wild workshops on our nature reserves to participation in our popular primary schools’ wildlife quiz, forest school activity to visits from us to your school.

Wild Workshops

All our primary schools workshops are linked directly to Science and History curriculum units at EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2. Workshops are hands-on, cross-curricular, tailored to the needs of schools and teachers, and delivered by experienced education staff and volunteers. They also provide more creative ways of teaching Literacy and Maths following your immersive wild experience.

Lots of hands-on practical activities for the children to try. We’ve been able to do lots of follow up work at school because their memories of the day are so strong. So much learning in a short period of time

The Annual Primary School Wildlife Quiz

Our annual countywide Wildlife School Quiz has been running since 1976 and is well known throughout Gloucestershire. Participation is free of charge thanks for the dedication of volunteers. Quiz rounds start in February, and conclude with the County Final in July.

This year’s champions were Meysey Hampton Church of England Primary School. Well done Meysey Hampton!

All schools within Gloucestershire are invited to participate. Please contact us if you would like to be involved.

In your school

We can visit your school to deliver an assembly or carry out a workshop. We can make good use of your school wildlife area with activities such as pond dipping and mini beast hunts which are linked to the National Curriculum. We can also offer exciting activities not often found in classroom such as owl pellet analysis. We also offer a school grounds advice service.
